Wishful Writers is a social network for writers, no matter what your flavor. Our goal is bringing together independent authors in a spirit of cooperation to discover like-minded friends, hone our writing craft, and find opportunities for marketing ourselves to the reading public. Right now, the site is still undergoing development, however, there are still plenty of places and features to explore.
First, take a moment to register for an account if you haven’t already. An account will allow you to participate in the forum, create and join groups, and participate in group walls and discussions.
The forum is public and any registered user is allowed to participate. It’s a great place for everyone to collectively mix, mingle, and make friends. If you feel it’s time for a little more privacy and exclusivity, you’re welcome to create or join a group.
Groups are like cliques for select individuals who share and wish to discuss a common interest away from the forum. For instance, the Short Story Anthologies group is where people interested in working on a short story anthology project can go to discuss the project specifics and get project updates. Groups can be public, private, or hidden.
- Public groups are visible to everyone and any registered user is welcome to join and participate.
- Private groups will still show up on the group list, however, only members of the group are able to view and participate in the group.
- Hidden groups will not appear on the group list and in order for someone to join the group, he would need to know the group’s direct link.
You also have a profile page where you can post some information about yourself and your interests and update your status. It’s as simple as that.
Now, go make some new friends.
Of special note: Participants should remember not to post anything you wouldn’t want available to the world at large, your fellow authors in general, or your mum in particular. We appreciate drama in our fiction, but not in our forums, so anyone engaged in Asshattery will receive Stern Looks from the Website Overlords. Consider yourself duly warned.
